BECOME A DEACON AT GATHER
What?
The New Testament describes a group of trained & designated servants inside of the early church called Deacons. As Gather works to become a community project, we want to train and designate deacons to help care for and serve our community.
Why?
We want to intentionally develop community leaders who can not only participate in the project, but can truly lead and care for all those who find their place at Gather.
Who?
Everyone belongs with this community and in this project. If you are willing to participate in the training, serve regularly, care for community members, and generally support the work of the church, then you are qualified!
How?
Our Deacon Training will take place May - August with one in-person meeting per month. We’ll be discussing the unique theology of Gather (what do we believe), ecclesiology (why does church exist?), Gather’s vision for hospitality (how do we create safe spaces?), and what the specific needs are right now inside of our community (how do we serve?).
There will be assigned reading + listening and an ongoing chat between each meeting. At the end of the 4 month program, our new Deacons will be sent in to the church to serve & lead.
